Wildcard Characters When you enter a query into the search box, you can use * and ? as wildcards. Using * tells the search engine to replace it with any number of characters, so 'loc*' will return hits for lock, locks, loctite etc. Using ? tells the search engine to replace it with any one character, this means that 'lo?k?' will return hits for lock, look etc. Double
