ICE & SATNAV HANDS FREE PHONE BOOT RELEASE

The ICE & SatNav centres around the Pioneer AVIC-X1R system. Shown here is the head unit in both closed and open configurations. The powered 6.5" touch screen provides the display for the Satellite Navigation and DVDs and is also the control panel for the radio, single CD/DVD and boot mounted Pioneer CDX-P670 six CD autochanger. The head unit is a single DIN sized unit, plugs directly into the vehicle ISO connectors and provides power to the boot mounted 'hide-away' unit.

The boot mounted SatNav 'hide-away' unit and CD Autochanger. The 'hide-away' unit is protected by a purpose built box fabricated from MDF board and contains a lot of the instrumentation and interfaces for the SatNav system. It is connected to the head unit via a digital data bus and also acts as the interface unit between the head unit and the CD autochanger. The radio aerial and GPS receiver antenna are also connected to the 'hide-away' unit as are connections to the gearbox reverse switch and speed pulse transducer.

The SatNav GPS receiver antenna is mounted centrally just behind the 'T' bar. In this position it is afforded a good view of the sky and is not shrouded by either the wind stop or hood. The power feed for the CD autochanger is taken directly from the positive battery feed where it enters the under bonnet fuse box and is protected by its own in-line fuse before entering the passenger compartment through the main wiring harness grommet. All wiring for the system follows the path of the OEM wiring loom installation along the passenger (near) side of the vehicle.
